Brand X invites artists with a radical edge exploring the ‘live experience’ across contemporary arts, performing arts, art music, live music, multidisciplinary installation and experimental performance to apply for the Live Arts Residency.

This 6 day residency supports early ideas and first-stage projects through access to a rehearsal studio without the pressure of an outcome. It’s a space to test, stretch and innovate.

Artists can generate new ideas, build collaborations, trial concepts or shift practice directions. This is not a rehearsal period…it’s time to experiment.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:
  • 6 days of studio time at City of Sydney Creative Studios

  • $1,200 fee + super per artist (for solo, duo or group of up to 3 artists)

  • $800 collaborator stipend for solo artists

  • Access to Brand X equipment (if available)

  • Professional photography

  • Optional invitation-only industry showing

  • Free annual Brand X Artist Pass for Lead Artists

WHO CAN APPLY:

Applications are welcome from boundary-pushing, form-breaking artists at any stage of their career working in: live music, contemporary performance, theatre, dance, physical theatre, art music, comedy, sound, performance installation, projection, multi-artforms and live art.

Projects must be in early development. This opportunity is not open to students. Artists who have participated in in previous Brand X programs are welcome to apply.

Flexible application submissions available: written, video or interview.

KEY DATES:

  • Applications Close: 9am, Wednesday 9 July 2025
