The National Ethnic Disability Alliance is funded by the Australian Government to run the Inclusive Arts Project – see this link.

The aim of the project is to increase the inclusion, participation and employment opportunities for People with Disability from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds in mainstream arts programs.

To do this, NEDA has Co-Designed an Inclusive Arts Practice Framework, and corresponding online training for community art centres.

We are seeking to partner with community arts centres and collectives across Western Australia, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory. 

The Art Centres will undergo the framework training and then deliver an inclusive arts program along with a showcase or exhibition. 

We want to encourage diverse applications and creative ideas, and NEDA is not restricting this opportunity to a specific art form.

This opportunity is expected to commence in September 2026, due for completion by May 2027. 

Applications are open to arts centres and collectives in WA, QLD, and ACT until September 6, 2026.

Art Centres in areas with high CALD and disability populations will be considered favourably.

Grants of up to $20,000 are available to support:

• Participation in 3 x 1-hour webinars on the implementation of NEDA’s Inclusive Arts Practice Framework
• Delivery of a series of at least six free inclusive workshops reaching at least 10 people with disability from CALD backgrounds
• A final exhibition or showcase event
• Engagement with NEDA’s monitoring and evaluation team

How to Apply

Applicants should submit a 1-page proposal to NEDA at [email protected]. The proposal must include a brief statement of how the organisation is currently meeting the needs of people with disability from CALD backgrounds, and a brief budget outline.

Applications will be assessed on a case‑by‑case basis, and NEDA may adjust the number and size of grants awarded depending on demand and program balance.

Eligibility: it is expected that organisations running arts programs with grant support do not profit from doing so. Applications that strengthen employment and leadership opportunities for people with disability in the arts will be favourably considered.
