Emerging Artist Grants

Emerging Artist Grants of up to $15,000 are available to support early-career artists of all art forms to undertake professional development opportunities, particularly overseas.

Funding Round 1, 2026
•    Applications open: Tuesday 25 November 2025
•    Applications close: Tuesday 20 January 2026, 5PM AEDT
•    For travel/projects commencing after: 8 April 2026
•    Grants announced: Early April 2026

Who we support
Individual emerging and early-career artists across Australia, practising in all art forms and disciplines.

The Ian Potter Cultural Trust supports artists working across traditional art forms and experimental mediums, from visual arts to community radio and design to literature.

  • Grants are only available to Australian citizens or Permanent Residents of Australia.
  • Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age when they apply

Structured professional development and networking opportunities. Such as:

  • Residencies
  • Mentorships
  • Conferences
  • Workshops
  • Private lessons
  • Internships
  • Study tours that have a clear skills development focus

The Trust may also consider supporting postgraduate study focusing on professional development and artistic practice where no equivalent exists in Australia.

Please note that projects for which the sole purpose is an exhibition, performance, or the making of a work (such as a recording or publication) are ineligible.
