The Emerging Artist Award at fortyfivedownstairs is a proven catalyst for ongoing recognition and professional development and allows audiences the privilege of accessing early-career works by exciting emerging artists. Entry is open to anyone in an early stage of their career wishing to submit a work that has not previously been exhibited in another art prize.
A $3000 prize pool will be awarded to two submissions that best explore our engagement with the natural and built environment, interrogates familial relationships through sensory experiences, and challenges our very sense of identity. As well, the People’s Choice Award gives you the chance to vote for your favourite work.
Submissions close on 4 June, and successful recipients will be notified by 14 June. The finalists’ works will be shown in the fortyfivedownstairs gallery 16-26 July 2024.
