Chamber Made is excited to announce that applications for the 2026 Deep Dive Mentorship are now open.
The mentorship provides an opportunity for one emerging artist to be in a mentor relationship with an established artist and with Chamber Made over a period of three months. Our 2026 mentor will be sound artist and composer Monica Lim. You can view more about Monica Lim here.
The program evolved from our observation while working with emerging artists of their need for different layers of artistic and professional development support, and to experience this intensive, deep-dive without the pressure of a public outcome.
WHAT
This is a paid opportunity. The mentee will receive $1000 for 20 hours paid contact time in addition to some observational opportunities, as follows:
- 10 hours with mentor
- 10 hours skills development with Chamber Made staff (eg assistance with grant writing, budgets, scheduling, planning etc – according to what is most useful for the individual)
- In the rehearsal room observations, as available, during Chamber Made and/or mentor projects
WHO
The Deep Dive mentorship is for artists working in multi-artform performance practice, who are within the first eight years of professional practice. Importantly, we seek artists who have a special interest in working with this year’s mentor, Monica Lim, and can articulate that interest in their proposal.
WHEN
The 2026 Deep Dive Mentorship will run February – April 2026. There is some flexibility around these dates. Specific dates and times of meetings and activities will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
WHERE
This is an in-person mentorship based in Melbourne. Specific locations for mentorship sessions will be negotiated by the mentee, Chamber Made and Monica Lim. Any work with Chamber Made will take place at the Chamber Made office in North Melbourne. There is no travel allowance available for the mentorship.
