This national prize invites early-career artists to submit entries for a chance to be considered for a prize pool totalling over $40,000 and the opportunity to exhibit in a curated finalists’ exhibition. Entries are open to all emerging Australian artists over 18, regardless of age, practice or medium. Now in its 38th year, ‘the churchie’ is dedicated to promoting innovation and excellence across all art genres, encompassing all mediums and subjects. The annual non-acquisitive prize invites artists from across Australia to submit their works for a chance to be selected to be part of the finalists’ exhibition in a professional public gallery space. The overall winner will receive a cash prize of $30,000, generously donated by long-time sponsors BSPN Architecture, which is part of the total $40,000 prize pool. ‘the churchie’ showcases a diverse range of evocative and mesmerising artworks with a strong legacy of fostering innovation and excellence to support the future of Australian contemporary arts practice.
