Inland Rail is seeking to engage artists or artistic teams for the commission of multiple public artworks at the Wangaratta Railway Station Precinct.
The commission is part of the Heritage Interpretation works at the station and include three(3) separate artwork opportunities. The opportunities are as follows:
· Station Entry (sculptural work by a First Nations artist)
· Underpass Wall (two-dimensional work)
· Rail Yard Garden (sculptural work)
The curatorial themes, artwork locations and selection criteria can be found in the Artist Brief.
EOIs may be submitted for either one(1) or multiple opportunities. Local, emerging or mid-career artists are encouraged to apply and should note capacity building opportunities will be provided.
Key Dates:
· Artist workshop: 1 June 2024
· EOIs close: 5pm 10 June 2024
· Short-listed Artists notified: 18 June 2024
· Short-listed Artist briefing: 21 June 2024
· Conceptual Proposals submitted: 5 August 2024
· Artist Presentations: 8-9 August 2024
· Final Artist Selection: 16 August 2024
· Design development: mid-August to end of October 2024
· Fabrication period: Starting end of October 2024
· Installation: Early 2025
ARTIST WORKSHOP. Inland Rail is providing a number of capacity building opportunities and is inviting interested artists to come along for a skill building workshop in relation to submitting an EOI. The workshop will provide an overview of the process and what makes a successful EOI, followed by a question and answer session.
