The Artisans Showcase (formerly the CIAF Art Market) was rebranded in 2025 to better reflect our commitment to showcasing authentic, high-quality artwork and craftsmanship. It provides a platform for both established and emerging artisans, offering a diverse range of artistic and craft-based practices that appeal to collectors and enthusiasts alike.
CIAF 2026 will feature two major program elements designed to showcase a diverse range of artistic and craft-based works: the Art Fair Showcase and the Artisans Showcase.
These two distinct exhibition opportunities offer a platform for both established and emerging artists, each catering to different creative expressions and audiences.
The Artisans Showcase is a curated exhibition celebrating the finest handcrafted works from Queensland’s First Nations artists. This exclusive presentation highlights exceptional craftsmanship, cultural significance, and contemporary design across textiles, ceramics, weaving, jewellery, and functional art pieces.
Bringing together independent artists, artist collectives, and art centres, the showcase provides a platform for artisans to present high-quality, market-ready works to collectors, galleries, and design enthusiasts. Emphasising excellence in technique and innovation in traditional practices, the exhibition reflects the rich storytelling and cultural heritage embedded in each creation.
The Artisans Showcase will be presented in two all-weather pavilions positioned on the promenade outside the Tanks Arts Centre main gate. These fully waterproof and secure structures provide a professional, gallery-style environment, ensuring artworks are displayed at their best while offering a comfortable and protected space for exhibitors and visitors alike. The Artisans Showcase highlights the strength of Indigenous design, connecting artists with buyers who appreciate the fusion of tradition and contemporary artistry.
To maintain the integrity of this showcase, we ask all applicants to carefully review the CIAF Info Pack and adhere to the guidelines and eligibility criteria before submitting an application.
