AMaGA is excited to offer three international residencies for Australian public museum and gallery professionals this September. In partnership with Monash University and the UK’s Institute for Digital Culture, this unique opportunity is informed AMaGA’s strategic pillars of Museum and Gallery Work, Sustainability, and Digital Transformation. The residencies are designed to:

  • Expose participants to other institutional or organisational settings to inspire different ways of seeing digital culture research in practice
  • Provide participants with opportunities to grow their international network and support systems with other arts workers working in museum and gallery digital literacy
  • Develop the digital capabilities of the broader sector through enabling participants to reflect upon their own practice and share new insights with their colleagues and peers.

One early-career, one mid-career, and one senior professional will be selected. The program kicks off at the Belvedere Summer School in Vienna from 1–6 September 2025, followed by up to two weeks of research and exchange at one of three international hosts: Galeries Ontario/Ontario Galleries (Toronto, Canada), the Institute for Digital Culture (Leicester, UK), or the Museum Data Service (also in Leicester).

This is a rare and exciting chance to expand your practice, explore international approaches to digital culture, and help build capacity across the Australian museum and gallery sector.

Expressions of Interest are now open and close Monday 14 July 2025, 11.59pm AEST.
