Sydney-born Terence Kohler, currently resident choreographer at the State Theatre in Munich, choreographs a new work to Carl Vine’s Percussion Symphony No 5.

Terence Kohler was born in Sydney, Australia in 1984. He studied music and piano playing, attracted attention for creation of some dance compositions. In 2002 he was invited by Birgit Keil to Mannheim Dance Accademy and got the “Birgit Keil Ballet foundation” scolarship. In the Accademy he created the first version of the ballets Just Before Falling and Intermezzo for 20. In 2003 within Art on the costruction Media Forum he created the ballet Elevation in colaboration with “Birgit Keil Ballet foundation“ and with the support of the „HypoVereinsbank”. In autumn 2003 especially for Karlsruher ballet company he created the extended version of Just before falling ballet. In 2003 he created the frst ballet for Mannheim Dance Accademy Writing the Light — der Lebenstanz. In 2004-2005 season he was invited to Baden Staatstheater as the dancer and choreographer. In 2005 there were the world frst performances of his ballets In the near distance and Intermezzo for 20 and the company was invited to the V Terpsichore —Gala at the Bayerischen Staatsballett in München. In 2005 Terence Kohler created Transcended — in a movement and a half for the 10th anniversary of “Birgit Keil’s Ballet foundation”.
