Risteard Ó Domhnaill grew up in Tipperary and spent his childhood summers in County Mayo, Ireland. With degrees in Theoretical Physics from Trinity College, Dublin, and History and Gaelic from the University of Galway, he now lives in the West of Ireland. The Pipe is his directorial debut.
A hugely emotive story in Ireland, Risteard’s work as a news cameraman and current affairs editor made sure that The Pipe maintained a balanced approach to events in Corrib. His close personal ties to the area and four years of dedicated filming allowed Risteard unparalleled access to this community under siege.
