Hobart-based cartoonist, illustrator, dad and beard grower, Christopher Downes swapped the American South for the Australian one, began his daily comic diary Diary of a Work in Progress for almost a year, and draws political cartoons for the Mercury newspaper in Tasmania that are often edited on the grounds of being defamatory. We like that.

For MOFO 2013, Christopher Downes, along with Joshua Santospirito will perform The Shipwright and The Banshee, an eerie tale set in Colonial-era Hobart of a lonely shipwright and a bargain he makes with a banshee who has foretold his death. The story is told through projections and live drawing by Christopher while Josh performs a lilting and haunting live soundtrack.
