World premiere performance of Mongrel the Tractor

Thomas the Tank Engine has nothing on Australia’s newest music machine, Mongrel the Tractor. The 1939 Farmhall tractor was a rusty wreck until instrument-maker Steve Langton saw what a bit, well, a lot actually, of welding and grinding could do to transform a sad old sight into a playable instrument. The clip below is the first recorded performance of Mongrel by Langton and his partner Emma. It’s bang on.
