Under Today – traces of Eastside began in 2007 as a collaboration between Canberra-based media artist Alexandra Gillespie and animateur, writer and director Dani Powell for the festival Shifting Ground.  Five years later it culminated in a three-night performance celebrating Alice Springs.

At the foot of Spencer Hill, Alice Springs, in the last days of May 2012, crowds gathered over three nights on the embankment of a dug-out drain to see the full-scale performance of Under Today – traces of Eastside produced by red shoes performance-makers and Browns Mart Productions.
