The Tjupi Band plays the Solomons

The Tjupi Band take the desert to saltwater country Solomon-style at the 11th Festival of Pacific Arts.

Travelling over 3,000 kilometres from the Central Desert, the energetic Tjupi Band formed part of the 86-strong delegation from Australia who attended the 11th Festival of Pacific Arts in the Solomon Islands with the support of the Australia Council for the Arts.

The Tjupi Band are proud Luritja men who play emotive desert reggae in Luritja and English. From the first moment of their arrival, the Tjupi Band were welcomed by the world’s largest gathering of Indigenous Pacific cultures. Touring band manager Vanessa Hutchins of Artback NT describes the gathering:
