Hundreds of people gathered at the Kellerberrin Greater Sports Ground on March 2 in mild weather and a brilliant magenta sunset to celebrate Noongar art, music, sport and culture at the biennial Keela Dreaming Festival, the biggest and the longest running Noongar festival in the Wheatbelt.

The focus for the eighth festival was squarely on Balladong culture with an all Noongar line-up of performers and not just the big names like Gina Williams and Phil Walley Stack. A 15-minute dance show was choreographed by local teenager Connie Yarran for young locals Static Crew and Lil Sparks had the crowd of 600 on their feet applauding the high-energy, hip hop routine. More traditional dances were performed by Wadumbah Dance Group.
