William Shakespeare may be remembered for his legendary plays of morality, justice and conscience, but details have come to light suggesting the bard was engaged in underhand and illegal activities himself.

Researchers at Aberystwyth University in Wales have looked into Shakespeare’s ‘other life’ as one of Warwickshire’s biggest landowners and discovered he had faced court and been threatened with jail for shirking his civic responsibilities and evading taxes.
