A new gallery and artist lab has been included in a Parks Victoria plan for the development of the Yarra Flats in Heidelberg. The Impressionists Lab and Gallery will become Australia’s first gallery dedicated to showing Australian Impressionist art in the location linked with its origin.

The proposed location along the Yarra River was the founding place of The Heidelberg School of Artists, including acclaimed Australian impressionists Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts, Charles Conder and Walter Withers. The region is well known as the area these artists preferred to create their paintings.
