Playwright and actor Ian Meadows has received the 2013 New South Wales Philip Parsons Fellowship for Emerging Playwrights. The announcement was made last weekend at the Philip Parsons Memorial Lecture, held at Belvoir Warehouse in Surry Hills.

The fellowship presented by Arts NSW and Belvoir is awarded annually to an emerging playwright whose original work has had a public showing or season in the previous year.  Meadows won the fellowship for his play Between Two Waves, which premiered at the Griffin Theatre Company last year. As this year’s recipient, Meadows will receive a $12,500 writing commission and $7,500 towards creative development for a new play, which will be supported by Belvoir’s artistic staff.
