Adelaide rental prices blamed for Tuxedo Cat’s Melbourne relocation

Pop-up venue The Tuxedo Cat, a staple of the Adelaide and Melbourne Fringe Festivals, is putting down more permanent roots.

Operating out of empty buildings and hosting a wide range of independent artists in its temporary performance spaces, including Barry Award winner Doctor Brown, pop-up venue The Tuexdo Cat has been a regular presence at the Adelaide Fringe since 2008. More recently, it has also operated venues at the Melbourne Fringe and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

However, Adelaide rental prices now mean that Tuxedo Cat’s operations at its current Melbourne premises are set to become more permanent.
