$135m in RISE funding top up, but is it too late?

With JobKeeper set to end this month, the Federal Government has announced a $135 million addition to arts funding, a day after the Shadow Minister for the Arts questioned the limited delivery of the previously promised $250 million.

Today (25 March) in a joint statement Treasurer, the Hon Josh Frydenberg and Federal Arts Minister the Hon Paul Fletcher announced an extra $135 million will be injected into the the arts and entertainment sector to support jobs.

The announcement comes as JobKeeper winds down at the end of March – a scheme that overlooked many arts workers.

Today’s announcement stated: ‘The Government will provide a further $125 million, available until 31 December 2021, into the already successful Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) fund. This funding will support around 230 projects and up to 90,000 jobs and builds on an original commitment of $75 million.’
