The truth is, joining a union can probably only do more good than harm. The worst thing that can happen is that you’ll find you don’t really use your membership, in which case you can always cease it.

But being part of a union could potentially provide you with many benefits. If you’re ever in need of advice on things like wages, work hours, working conditions, health and safety issues or superannuation, then your union could be your first port of call. Without it, you might struggle to find the information you’re looking for.
