Sometimes we take jobs because they’re close to what we want. Sometimes we take jobs because we need the money. And sometimes, we end up settling for a job right now rather than the dream. Then you may end up in a position you’re not particularly happy with.

One of the ways to make sure you don’t end up in this position is to realise what you actually want by defining your goals. The first question you need to ask yourself it, ‘what do I want out of this?’ While money is a great incentive, and benefits are a plus, the fact is that you’ll want more out of your job than just the perks.
