The New Zealand Comedy Trust is a not-for-profit charitable organisation dedicated to developing, promoting and growing a sustainable and diverse comedy industry in Aotearoa.  Since 1995, we’ve championed comedy as a legitimate artform, delivering the annual NZ International Comedy Festival alongside year-round initiatives that support artists at all career stages.

Our Festival attracts over 90,000 attendees annually, presenting 120+ show seasons and 750+ performances across Auckland and Wellington.  From emerging talent to internationally recognised artists, we provide platforms for experimentation, development and excellence in live comedy. Our initiatives include the Billy T Award, Fred Award, professional development programmes and wellbeing support for artists.

We’re committed to accessibility, representation and cultural inclusion, working to ensure comedy reflects the diversity of New Zealand audiences and artists.
