About the National Art School
The National Art School (NAS) is at the forefront of visual arts practice utilising our distinctive studio-based teaching model to deliver exceptional higher education, research, scholarship and professional practice.
NAS is an independent art school committed to training the next generation of artists. We are focussed solely on the visual arts and the future of arts practice, offering the full range of tertiary degrees: Bachelor of Fine Art, Master of Fine Art and Doctor of Fine Art. Teaching across ceramics, drawing, painting, photomedia, printmaking and sculpture, our lecturers are experienced are at the forefront of their disciplines and the arts industry.
The position
The Exhibitions Officer is a member of the NAS Gallery Team and provides operational support to the gallery to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the exhibitions, projects, programs, talks and other events. The position liaises with a broad range of stakeholders, both internal and external, including exhibiting artists, visitors, volunteers, marketing, facilities, security, events and teaching staff. The role contributes to audience engagement and development by supporting initiatives that meet the School’s vision and strategic goals.
What you bring to the role
As Exhibitions Officer, you’ll be a key operational support to the NAS Gallery team, helping deliver a vibrant program of exhibitions, talks, and events. You’ll coordinate volunteers, maintain gallery presentation standards, assist with production and publications, and contribute to audience engagement aligned with the School’s strategic goals.
This role is ideal for someone with:
- Tertiary qualifications in Visual Art, Art History, Curatorship or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a public gallery or arts organisation.
- Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to create and proofread exhibition manuals and artwork wall labels, manage volunteer rosters and produce reports.
- A flexible schedule — some evenings and weekends required.
