A Career-Defining Opportunity in Arts and Culture
This is a unique opportunity to lead Arlpwe Art & Culture Centre into its next exciting phase of growth and development.
Arlpwe Art & Culture Centre is a 100% community-owned organisation based in Ali Curung, in the Barkly Region of the Northern Territory. The Centre plays a vital role in supporting and promoting the rich artistic and cultural traditions of the Ali Curung community, representing four distinct language groups: Kaytetye, Alyawarr, Warlpiri, and Warumungu.
Located on Kaytetye Country, approximately 400km north of Alice Springs, Arlpwe has been a key cultural hub since its establishment in 2008. The name ‘Arlpwe’ (pronounced Ahl-boa) was bestowed by the Traditional Owners, reflecting the deep cultural significance of the Art Centre.
Arlpwe has a dynamic program of events, including participation in major national art fairs and exhibitions, as well as hosting the annual Artali Dance Festival, a vibrant celebration of art and community. Works by Arlpwe artists are proudly represented in both private and public collections across Australia and beyond.
Arlpwe are offering a competitive salary package of $90,000 – $100,000 per annum, along with additional allowances and entitlements to be discussed during the interview process.
In this role, you will represent Arlpwe on prestigious platforms such as the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, National Indigenous Art Fair, Desert Mob and the Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA). This is not only a leadership position—it is an opportunity to contribute to the growth of one of Central Australia’s most important cultural organisations while advancing your own professional career in the arts sector.
This role promises to be career-defining and life-changing, offering you the rare chance to combine professional excellence with the privilege of working closely with Aboriginal artists, Elders, and communities who share their cultural knowledge and creativity with the world.
If working alongside exceptional artists in a role where culture meets creativity excites you… this one’s for YOU.
Desart is the peak body for 39 Aboriginal Art and Craft Centres in Central Australia and has been engaged by Arlpwe’s Board of Directors to manage their recruitment.
