Handel’s Xerxes is where love triangles, mistaken identities and bold disguises collide.
Featuring the iconic aria ‘Ombra mai fu’ and first performed in 1738, this vibrant work blends comic charm with heartfelt emotion in a dazzling tale of desire, rivalry and reconciliation.
Don’t miss this chance to experience it at the Malthouse with the next generation of talent from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and the VCA. Our Master of Music (Opera Performance), Bachelor of Music (Performance) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) students combine with the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music’s Early Music Studio to deliver this glorious work.
Performances run across Wednesday 2–Saturday 5 September 2026, commencing at 7pm with a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
