What does the inside of your stuff really look like?
In this playful, hands-on workshop with 2025 photo access exhibiting artist UK Frederick, you’ll take apart small objects and reimagine them through the process of photograms—camera-less photographic prints made by placing items directly onto light-sensitive paper. The results are striking black-and-white images that act like X-rays, revealing the hidden structures and inner forms of familiar things.
By deconstructing an object and working with its unseen parts, you’ll be encouraged to think differently about material, function, and perspective. Together with the artist, the group will build a small body of work that uncovers new ways of seeing.
Participants must bring a small object (max 20cm) that they’re happy to take apart and let go of—nothing containing liquids, hazardous materials, or seamless designs. Think broken gadgets, outdated tools, or mechanical bits and bobs. Let’s see what’s inside!
