From essays and memoirs to biographies and autobiographies, from personal columns to feature articles, the ingredients remain the same: a consistent, convincing voice, a clear understanding of the story you want to tell about the situation you’re describing, the depiction of vivid characters, and showing rather than telling your readers what you want them to know.
Bring pen and paper or a fully charged device to participate in the writing exercises.
You will learn:
- How to clarify and communicate the stories behind the situations you describe in your writing
- How to develop the right voice for each story
- How to depict striking characters on the page
- How to show rather than tell your readers what you want them to know
- How to do immersive writing
