Sat 16th Aug 10am – 12 noon
Step into a gentle space of creativity with ceramic artist Sandra Noa and create your very own porcelain picture box—a small sculptural scene nestled within a handmade frame.
In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to the unique qualities of porcelain clay—its softness, strength, and subtle beauty. Sandra will guide you through working slowly and mindfully with this delicate material, helping you gain confidence and appreciation for its responsive nature.
You’ll learn how to:
– Handbuild a simple arched form as your base
– Sculpt small elements and textures to express your dream world
– Work with porcelain in its raw, unglazed state to let its natural surface shine
– Embrace a slower, intuitive making process
What you place inside your piece is entirely up to you—whether it’s a quiet landscape, a symbolic moment, or something entirely abstract. Each work will be unique, shaped by your imagination and made with intention.
This workshop welcomes all skill levels, from beginners to experienced makers. All materials and firing are included.
✨ A gentle, hands-on introduction to porcelain and the art of sculpting what lives within your imagination.
Meet Sandra….
Sandra Noa is a Brisbane-based ceramic artist working from her studio in Capalaba, Queensland. Her practice centres on creating refined, contemplative pieces in porcelain—celebrated for its delicacy, strength, and quiet beauty.
Working slowly and intentionally, Sandra handcrafts each piece as a meditation on form, light, and texture. She chooses not to glaze her work, allowing the natural surface of porcelain to shine—highlighting its purity, softness, and translucency. Her forms explore the tension between fragility and resilience, inviting stillness and reflection.
With a lifelong appreciation of the arts and a deep respect for traditional techniques, Sandra allows the unique qualities of porcelain to guide her process. Her workshops encourage space for slow making and mindful connection through clay, allowing participants to tune into their creativity, embrace the process, and find beauty in simplicity.
Join her to learn the techniques of working with porcelain and to experience the quiet joy of creating with intention and presence.
