As an evolutionary tool for survival, humans are hard-wired to seek patterns and consistency, yet uncertainty accompanies us everyday. But uncertainty plays a vital role in understanding the world. It is a powerful tool that leads to new information, questioning existing beliefs or considering open-ended ideas without answers.
Uncertain Vistas, presents works of art that repeatedly examine the same location, insistently revisit an idea or method, or conceptually trouble the contemporary and historic. It shows us uncertain views, abstracts or unsettles familiar places and speculates on the indescribable. In doing so, this exhibition emphasises perception, experience and speculation, offering the opportunity for new insight to emerge from uncertainty.
