Join Professor Emily Potter as she discusses her essay for The Regional publication. Centred on the concept of relationality, her writing explores the very idea that provided the conceptual foundation for the exhibition.

Emily is Professor of Writing, Literature and Culture in the School of Communication and Creative Arts at Deakin University. Her research focuses on the intersections of cultural production, settler colonial legacies and environmental change, with a focus on regional Australia. She is the chief investigator of an Australian Research Council funded project exploring community-led practices of environmental repair across Australia, Norway and the UK. Her publications include Writing Belonging at the Millennium: Notes from the Field of Settler Colonial Place (Uni Chicago), Plastic Water: The Social and Political Life of Bottled Water (MIT Press), and the forthcoming Shadow Country: Reimagining Place and Story in Settler Colonial Australia (Routledge) to be published later this year.
