New Australian play The Memory Mirror opens at the Brunswick Mechanics Institute from 8-13 September for its Melbourne season and world premiere.
The story is brought to life by an extraordinary cast of Australian stage and screen talent: Gabriel Partington, Don Bridges, Margot Knight, Jim Daly, Anthea Davis & Christine Husband, under the direction of Drew Tingwell. Scout McDonald is the Puppet Designer, bringing her artistry to two of the avian cast members.
Set during the wonderfully eccentric Blue Mountains Mind, Body & Spirit Festival, the play moves between the present and flashbacks, from an ambulance first-aid stall, a memory competition overlooking the Three Sisters, to a mysterious mirror hidden in a forest clearing.
At times funny, at times unsettling, The Memory Mirror asks what happens when memory becomes unreliable, and whether forgetting is an act of survival.
