Discover the beauty and rhythm of ink in this one-hour workshop with artist Bryan Mew at Hurstville Museum & Gallery.
The session begins with a guided walkthrough of Bryan’s exhibition in the Dragon’s Lair Gallery, where you’ll explore how ancient Chinese pictograms evolved from visual symbols into written forms, and how they continue to inspire contemporary art today.
Then, roll up your sleeves for a practical ink-painting session. Learn essential brush techniques, experiment with tone and texture, and reinterpret traditional pictograms through your own expressive marks and create your own ink artwork inspired by ancient symbols and personal interpretation.
Through discussion, demonstration, and hands-on experimentation, you’ll be invited to explore ink as a living language, one that speaks through gesture, rhythm, and emotion.
Whether you’re new to ink or refining your skills, this workshop offers a creative and reflective experience connecting history, gesture, and imagination.
