Sydney Youth Orchestra invites you to our biggest fundraising event of the year, ‘The Big Busk’, this September 20th.
This is an amazing celebration of the future in orchestral music, where Sydney CBD and Parramatta Westfields are transformed into one large concert hall. That’s right, we are turning the streets of Sydney into an accessible concert hall for all lovers of music!
What started as an experiment in 2018 has grown into something much bigger than our wildest dreams! With SYO sharing The Big Busk idea with Adelaide Youth Orchestras in 2024, this year, Melbourne Youth Orchestras will also harness the power of their 700 musicians on the same day – the streets of Melbourne and Sydney will be alive with the sound of orchestral music.
Building the future of orchestral music!
So why are we busking? SYO is a not-for-profit organisation, we fundraise each year with donated funds going towards access to new equipment, access to new sheet music to expand skills and repertoire, all while connecting and growing a community of like-minded musicians.
We surpassed our 2024 fundraising goal of $50,000, and we hope that, with the kind donations of the community, we can do the same thing again this year.
Visit the SYO website for more details on where you can see our talented musicians and how you can donate.
