This writing course, The Art of Tension and Twists with Darcy Tindale, takes place at Writing NSW in Sydney.

Whether plotting a novel or short story, this course delves deep into the techniques of tension, suspense, crucibles, and twists. Devices that keep readers captivated and turning pages. Through a series of engaging examples, looking at the structure of climax, and practical exercises, participants will explore the nuances of building tension and creating high-stakes scenarios, known as crucibles, that test their characters to their limits. Participants will learn how to craft powerful imagery, high stakes, and analyse character’s motives, creating dilemmas that resonate with a reader.
