Discover Melbourne’s most pioneering independent poets, theatre makers, comics, puppeteers, filmmakers and other artists as they uniquely celebrate the absurdities of life through continuous performances.

Celebrating its 10th year, this magnificently mad, mind-bending, multi-artform festival is an epic fusion of creativity and weirdness.

Produced by Captain W.N. Fish (award-winning playwright Bill Marshall) and his loyal co-producer Doctor Oculus. It is the only arts festival that has been running since 1978 with a 30+ year hiatus.

Highlights include:

The World’s First Successful Mouth Transplant
The new short play written by Bill Marshall will have its global premiere at The 10th Festival of Surrealisms. Stars David Macrae, Jonathan Griffiths and Gerard Lewis-Fitzgerald. Directed by Marco Lawrence. (10 mins)

The Writer and the Demon
A 20th Century Fish Production featuring Bill Marshall, David Macrae and Sean O’Callaghan.
Written by Bill Marshall, directed by Jacob Oberman. (20 mins)

One Ablution, by notorious and wickedly talented satirical comedian Helchild. The multimedia performance features right-wing maverick senator Pauline Shittsen interviewing US President Donald Dump live via satellite in a desperate bid to become Australia’s next commander & queen, with Donald’s help. Will she succeed? Or will the shit hit the fan? (15 mins)

“The festival is a bit like unpasteurised milk….tasty, direct from the cow, so fresh you can taste the green of the grass. But not without risk. You’ve been warned.”
Creativity’s Midwife
