Explore the decorative and ornate possibilities of clay with ceramic artist Ebony Russell in this 3-part workshop series.
Channeling her signature style; icing-inspired piping, intricate layering and ornate, sculpted flourishes, Russell will guide participants through ornamental object decoration.
Working with air-drying clay, you’ll shape a series of ornamental pieces; from delicate plaques to sculptural treasure dishes, each one a small, opulent object, perfect for a Christmas gift or to keep for yourself.

About Ebony Russell
Ebony Russell is a Sydney-based ceramic artist known for her distinctive piped porcelain sculptures. Using techniques more commonly associated with cake decorating, Russell builds elaborate ceramic forms through repeated layers of piped porcelain, transforming decoration from surface embellishment into structure. Her practice explores ornament, excess, femininity and histories of decorative ceramics, drawing on influences including Rococo and Neoclassical design, historic porcelain, confectionery and domestic craft traditions. Russell’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in several collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the British Crafts Council Handling Collection, the Parliament House Art Collection, Canberra and Manly Art Gallery & Museum.
