Anita Quayle and Nick Delaney are a cello and guitar duo, who were awarded the 2022 Creative Victoria Music Works grant to record in collaboration with 9 Victorian musicians from diverse backgrounds.
Together, Anita and Nick create ambient neoclassical-inspired music to soothe the soul and calm the senses. Utilising various effects and live looping, they produce blissful textural music, providing a thought-provoking ambiance.
Anita Quayle is a contemporary cellist and composer with a flair for the unconventional. She trained at the Victorian College of the Arts to pursue artistic excellence and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Music. During her 25 years in the industry, Anita has performed live and collaborated with a vast array of musical icons and artists.
Nick Delaney is a bass player, guitar player, teacher, composer and sound engineer based in Melbourne. Nick has a Bachelor of Arts in Music, and since graduating in 2000 he has performed in, and composed music for bands of incredibly varying styles.
Minorarc is a dark classical and cinematic progressive metal project by Ivan Bullock. For over 20 years, he has been an active recording artist and promoter for Australian arts and experimental / underground music. A classically trained violinist and multi-instrumentalist, his modern musical journey began in Tokyo during the early 2000’s, before returning to Australia and establishing Minorarc.
To translate the project’s most recent pieces for live performance, he has joined forces with violinist Eric Shek and bassist Brendan Henriques.
Eric has a history performing for university and community orchestras, and has even traveled overseas for a crash course in Irish fiddle, as well as playing for Melbourne punk rock band We Were Voyagers. He joins Minorarc to fuse his classical roots with the project’s heavier experimental nature.
Brendan is a music teacher, respected session musician, and established performer who often tours with numerous tribute bands. Alongside roots in gospel music, he records and delves into an array of genres including funk, soul, jazz and beyond.
