Difficult Love is a highly personal take on the contemporary challenges facing black lesbians in South Africa. Internationally celebrated South African activist-artist Zanele Mulholi presents the intricate mesh of their political, artistic, and personal life through intimate photography and interviews with their friends, colleagues and peers.
Difficult Love will be screened with an introduction from curator and member of the Kink collective Amelia Barikin. This screening is presented alongside Kink’s showcase of queer Australian art You Are Here Too. On show until 29 June 2025. .

Amelia Barikin is Associate Professor in Art History at the School of Communication and Arts, University of Queensland and a member of the Kink collective. They were previously an ARC Senior Research Associate at the University of Melbourne, and have also worked as a curator and editor with various arts institutions.
