With the 2026 Young Artist Award coming up soon in March, excitement is building to welcome audiences to this much-anticipated biennial exhibition, showcasing the next generation of artistic talent 🎨✨
In line with the Royal Queensland Art Society’s commitment to encouraging and supporting young people, the Young Artist Award (YAA) is an open competition for artists aged 30 & under, where artists were encouraged to observe their subject from life. This means to directly observe your subject (whether it be human, animal, landscape or still life) in real life, rather than drawing from a photograph or from your imagination.
Following on from the RQAS Workshop Festival Open Day, on Saturday, 7th of March from 2pm to 3:30pm, join us at Petrie Terrace Gallery for the Opening event for the Young Artist Award!
This event celebrates our young emerging artists and recognises their talents at an awards presentation.
