Join Ballina Shire Council and Bec Massey for a 2.5 hour hands-on workshop for beginners where you’ll learn simple, sustainable techniques to repair or embellish your clothes, extending their life and reducing textile waste.

Bring along one or two items in need of mending, and we’ll provide all the materials and guidance to help you stitch, patch, or decorate them in creative ways.

About your Facilitator: Bec Massey is a sewist, facilitator, small business owner and NDIS support worker with over twenty years experience delivering creative workshops. She has a Bachelor in Visual Arts and has worked in community arts and creative engagement with diverse communities all over Australia. She also runs a small sewing business called Thready Set Go – repurpose reuse recreate, where she repurposes vintage and remnant fabrics into reusable everyday items. She is passionate about the importance of encouraging folks to learn how to sew and utilising textiles already in circulation towards a more sustainable future.

To ensure participants receive close care and guidance from the workshop tutor throughout the event, the number of participants is strictly limited to 10. Please note this is an 18 and older event.
