Post Hole Digger (PhD) is a biting satirical exposé on the twin myths of cultural and personal identity.
Well-versed in the tools of anthropology, Jack Brady now turns the interrogative spotlight on themselves. Part stand-up, part cabaret, part fireside chat, the earnest and hilarious theatre piece is the third in a series of shows that showcase Jack’s “composter syndrome,” the lesser-known but more entertaining cousin of imposter syndrome.
Jack’s last three shows have been about the expectations of family (Gold Star Failure), church (God Hates Me), and the military (Erasing Mamhood). In Post Hole Digger (PhD), they now have the anti-intelligentsia in their crosshairs.
Jack brings their signature wit to this proudly feminist work about 1800s family history and revisits how the women in the family subverted colonial patriarchy.
“The show is like Drunk History without alcohol, and meaner to the colonial overlords for being gob$hites” – Jack Brady
About Jack Brady
This year, Jack will be the same age that legendary comedian George Carlin was when he was at the height of his fame. However, they remain a queer trans comedic hack who doesn’t gig enough in this neoliberal hellscape and who does comedy that only 2% of the population cares about.
An indefatigable ambassador for creative disruption, Jack is a true believer in the power of the arts to transform and empower, and a staunch advocate for reclaiming satire as a mode of political expression.
“Jack blends sharp observation with intellectual rigour, brutal honesty and unstoppable laugh out loud humour” – Creativity’s Midwife
