Celebrating 60+ years of songs, stories, and learning, Play School: Come and Play! invites little ones behind the scenes of Australia’s most beloved television show. Made by ACMI in collaboration with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, it’s a hands-on, playful experience where children and families can discover how Play School comes to life.
Play School has been part of the rhythm of childhood in Australia for six decades, and from the very beginning we’ve known play as the spark behind everything. Like Play School itself, ‘play’ is timeless. Then, now, and into the future, Play School remains treasured by audiences because it creates a space for our youngest Australians to play, to belong and to be seen.
While production styles, presenters and platforms have evolved, the heart of the show has not. The core philosophy has remained constant: supporting children’s development through imaginative play.
This exhibition has been designed for audiences watching the series now. A space for them to learn and play whilst learning the building blocks of screen literacy. Young visitors can pretend to be a presenter, camera operator or director, look through the windows, hear stories beneath the rocket clock, singalong to their favourite songs and meet our treasured friends Big Ted, Little Ted, Jemima, Humpty and Kiya.

Booking information
- Tickets are free but booking is essential for all visitors. 30-60 mins is recommended for each play session.
- Tickets are grouped by week; please select the week that includes your preferred date.
- This exhibition is recommended for children aged 2 – 5 years. All children must be accompanied by an adult or guardian at all times.
- To ensure the best experience for our visitors, we limit numbers so that little ones (and big ones) get the most out of every session.
