In this new exhibition by artist and curator Ross Coulter, ‘Picturing Democracy’, explores and poetically creates representations of democracy, democratic processes, community participation, and connections across the City of Port Phillip.
Drawing from 4,000 photographs held within the Port Phillip City Collection, in addition to creating his own photographs, Coulter re-imagines what democracy looks like. Reflecting on who we are as a community and the contributions we make, both past and into the future.
Featured artists from the Collection include Brook Andrew, Michael Bastin, Bruno Benini, Maree Clarke, Ross Coulter, Rozalind Drummond, Sue Ford, Trevor Graham, Pasqualina Grosso, Linda Jullyan, Martin Kantor, Deborah Kelly, Michael Kluge, Ruth Maddison, Ian McKenzie, Ben McKeown, Roderick McNicol, Martin Munz, Ricky Maynard, Michael Rayner, Jacqueline Riva, Mark Strizic, Peter Solness, Valerie Sparks, Darren Sylvester, Leanne Temme, Les Walkling, Judith Webb, A.
