Pause in Transition: The Elderhood Project
by Ali Griffin
The Arts Centre Warburton
On Display Thu 5 Feb 2025 until Sun 26 April 2026
Pause in Transition: The Elderhood Project brings together artworks shaped by change, reflection and becoming. The exhibition holds a pause within an ongoing shift, situated between what has been lived and what has not yet been named.
This exhibition grew out of the early thinking behind The Elderhood Project, an ongoing body of work that centres women in later life and the wisdom carried through lived experience. As that project began to take shape, it became clear that there was a necessary space before Elderhood could be fully claimed or defined. Pause in Transition holds that space.
This is not an exhibition about endings, but about what opens when roles loosen and attention turns elsewhere. A time when care responsibilities change, work falls away, bodies shift, and experience begins to reorganise itself as knowing.
This exhibition does not seek resolution. It holds a pause within suspension, allowing space for emergence and for value that is present before it is recognised or named.
Not a destination, but a threshold.
A held moment.
A place where becoming expands.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, join us for the official opening of Pause in Transition: The Elderhood Project. This event creates space to share stories, connect, and learn from one another; asking questions about what happens when care responsibilities change, work falls away, bodies shift, and experience begins to reorganise itself as knowing.
Come together to hear from the artist, engage in meaningful conversation and hold pause within an ongoing shift, situated between what has been lived and what has not yet been named.
