Pathways to Publication is a dedicated information session for writers from diverse cultural backgrounds and influence seeking publication or wanting information about options for publication.

Join moderator Shankari Chandran, author of Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens, in conversation with:

  • Kavita Bedford, acclaimed author of Friends and Dark Shapes
  • Natasha Rai, somatic counsellor, author of An Onslaught of Light, and co-host of The Book Deal podcast
  • Robert Watkins, Publishing Director at Ultimo Press

Together, we’ll discuss the many routes to publication, navigating barriers, and building supportive networks.

Curated by Shankari Chandran and Christine Shamista Ratnasingham, this is a space to connect, share experiences, and explore practical pathways to publication. You are also invited to share your own questions and experiences in a welcoming environment.

Join us at Writing NSW or via online link on Thursday 19 March 2026, 6.30pm – 7.30pm (opportunity to chat more afterwards too). Registered attendees will receive a link to access this event prior to the start time.

While this event will focus on pathways to publication for writers of colour, anyone is welcome to attend.

If you have additional access needs please contact us at [email protected] or 02 9555 9757.
