Mike will be giving an in-depth presentation about his life, career and where he’s headed next. Hear stories from behind the lines, reflections on the field of photojournalism, and discover why a picture is still worth a thousand words.

Tickets cost $115 per person and bookings are essential.

About Mike Bowers

Mike Bowers is a photographer and host of Talking Pictures on Insiders, which airs on the ABC. Mike has spent 37 years in the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery working for publications including The AustralianThe Canberra TimesThe AgeThe BulletinThe Australian Financial ReviewBRWTimeThe Daily Telegraph and The Sydney Morning Herald.

He covered thirteen Federal election campaigns and has accompanied ten Prime Ministers on assignments both around Australia and overseas. He has covered conflicts in Cambodia, Kosovo, Bougainville, Papua New Guinea and the Middle East.

Mike is also a published author, curator, and freelance photographer.

About Fit to Print: Defining Moments from the Fairfax Photo Archive

Explore the art of photojournalism with highlights from the Fairfax Photo Archive selected by renowned photojournalist Mike Bowers. With images printed from the original glass-plate negatives the exhibition explores how the pioneers of press photography in Australia developed their storytelling skills while also creating a lasting record of Australian society in the opening decades of the 20th century.
