Mulana is Yorta Yorta language for spirit – in this exhibition by multi-media artist, ENOKi (Dja Dja Wurrung, Yorta Yorta), they uncover the intersections between mulana in culture and one’s own spirituality, and the lived experience of queer Blakness within so-called ‘Australia’. Exploring the meaning of mulana/spirit within today’s contemporary context, the works will interrogate what this looks like through ENOKi’s creative practice, which draws inspiration from pop culture – comic books, vintage animation, renaissance era paintings and the flora and fauna of Country.
