Muktoraah is an exploration of a fictional land within my ongoing world building art practice. It is a universe created by Khaanis Uldur, a being of shadow and darkness. Muktoraah, a realm of chaos and destruction is controlled and ruled by divine beings known as the Kha Muktu. There are ten different Kha Muktu within Mukturaah, each with divine powers of their own, being loosely based on the seven deadly sins. This exhibition features creatures, worlds, gods, magical beings and powerful relics from the realm of chaos.
My broader art practice involves this universe, as well as three others that exist beside each other, combining in the centre. Together they are called Ultahnor where every creation I make resides somewhere within.
My practice is heavily inspired by fantasy, science fiction, video games, movies/tv, current events and childhood memories. I often use shiny materials such as metal leaf to imitate rare collectable cards that I used to collect when I was younger. The stories and world builder aspect of my practice have also been heavily influenced by childhood memories of video games, having strange worlds and peculiar characters in most games I played.
The exhibition ‘Mukturaah’ was created in a response to current world events. Global conflicts, widespread diseases and financial stress have all played a part in these artworks. Containing works on board, paper and resin I invite the viewer into the realm of Muktoraah, to experience this fictional land of chaos and destruction.
